At a glance

No personal data is collected. No name, email, phone number, or location.
No data is sent to any server. Every calculation happens inside your browser.
No tracking, analytics, or ads. No third-party SDKs.
You can erase everything. Clear your history at any time from Settings.

1. What data we use

Hisabu uses only the following data, and all of it is stored only on your device inside the browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local):

Your settings - theme (light / dark / system), Bengali digits on/off, history limit, and similar preferences.
Calculation history - the expressions you calculated and their results (only if you keep history enabled).
Latest answer - the last successful result so you can reuse it in the next calculation.
Temporary pending expression - numbers you add via the context menu are kept for up to 30 minutes so you can continue.

Beyond this, Hisabu collects nothing else.

2. What we never collect

(Device ID, Fingerprint)
Your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier
Your location (GPS, IP-based, or otherwise)
Your browsing history, visited sites, or tab contents
Passwords, form data, cookies, or login information
Any record of what you typed or clicked on a page
Device identifiers or fingerprints

3. How data is used

All data is used exclusively by the extension itself to power your calculator experience:

Remembering your settings so the popup looks the same next time
Showing past calculations in the history panel for one-click reuse
Inserting the last answer into the next calculation
Appending numbers gathered from the context menu into one expression

None of this data is transmitted to any server, shared with anyone, or sold.

4. Permissions and why they are needed

Hisabu requests only the minimum permissions required. Each permission is explained below:

Why permission is needed?
To save your settings, calculation history, and last answer on your device.
To add the “হিসাব করুন” item to the right-click menu when text is selected.
To read the current tab’s selected text only when you click the icon or use the context menu.
To display the small result card (toast) on the page and read the selected text.
To read from the clipboard when you click the Paste button in the popup.
To reliably copy results with the Copy button.

হিসাবু কোনো host_permissions (<all_urls>) চায় না।

Hisabu does not request any host_permissions such as <all_urls>, meaning it never gets persistent access to every website. It only acts on the active tab after you click.

5. Third parties and external services

Hisabu uses no third-party services, SDKs, analytics, crash reporters, advertising networks, or cloud servers. All code lives inside the extension and runs entirely inside your browser.

It does not send any network request outside the extension itself.

6. How long data is kept and how to delete it

Settings: kept as long as the extension is installed.
History: kept up to your configured limit (default 100). You can press “Clear history” at any time from Settings.
Temporary pending expression: kept for at most 30 minutes, or removed immediately after a successful calculation.
Everything: uninstalling the extension removes all stored data automatically.

7. Security

Hisabu takes security seriously. Specifically:

No eval(), Function(), or other unsafe code execution is used for calculation. A custom safe parser/evaluator is used instead.
Text selected on a webpage is never executed as code. it is only read as numbers and a fixed set of operators.
The extension never injects unsanitised HTML into the page; the toast card uses Shadow DOM to stay fully isolated from the host page.
No network requests are made because none are needed.

8. Children’s privacy

Hisabu collects no personal data at all, so it is safe for users of any age, including children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

If the extension’s functionality changes in the future, this policy may be updated. Whenever it changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change, and the new version will be posted here. For significant changes, an in-extension notice may also be shown.
